Menu: Maple glazed Salmon; beets; fried beet greens/kale/baby spinach and baby potatoes; summer fresh watermelon for dessert although ice cream was also offered.

With all of us back in the same city and healthy/recovered. We had a great dinner at GF’s house. We also invited a New Person (NP). Partly ’cause fresh homemade food is awesome to share and partly ’cause we miss TB.
There aren’t a lot of actual measurements in the recipe for Maple glazed salmon so here is a quick description. Heat oil and some butter in skillet. Add minced garlic or GF uses garlic oil. Place your salmon steaks or fillets in the pan and let fry until you see the colour change of cooked 3/4 the way through from the bottom. Then flip’em, pour maple syrup over the salmon until the bubbly mess threatens to spill out onto your cooktop and let it caramelize on your fish while letting it fry for another 3 minutes or so, serve.
The beets and potatoes were boiled (steaming also works) and very tasty with added butter. NP and CTG both declined the actual beets, which left all the more for GF and me (FFB).
I’m not 100% sure what went into the beet greens filled out with some chard and spinach. They were pan fried with cider vinegar, ~1 teaspoon of honey and a grind or two of fresh pepper. My favourite thing about beat greens is that there is enough moisture in them to steam in a covered frying pan without adding too much to them.
GF had the whole meal planned so well with coconut milk frozen dessert as an option but we all looked at the watermelon and thought it suited the end of the meal better.
Now we just have to wait and see if NP is hooked and wants to hangout with us again. Or cook for us later =)
